For months I watched YouTube videos promising "$10,000/month with AI, no skills needed." I was skeptical. So I decided to test 5 of the most popular AI side hustles myself, with just 1 hour per day and a $20 ChatGPT Plus subscription. This is not theory. Below are my real results after 7 days — what worked, what failed, and how much I actually made.
Why I Did This Test
I'm not in the US. I'm in Morocco, targeting US clients on Fiverr and Gumroad. I wanted to know if a beginner outside the US can actually make money with AI in 2026, without lying or using fake screenshots.
My rules:
- No copy-paste — edit everything manually.
- Be honest with clients that I use AI as an assistant.
- 1 hour per day maximum.
- Track every dollar and every minute.
1. AI Content Writing for Blogs
What I did: I created a Fiverr gig: "I will write a 1,000-word SEO blog post with AI + human editing." I used ChatGPT to draft, then spent 45 minutes editing manually.
Lesson: This works, but you need 2-3 weeks and samples to get the first client. One week is not enough to build trust on Fiverr.
2. Selling AI Services on Fiverr
What I did: Offered "AI-powered resume rewrite in 24h" for $25. I used ChatGPT to analyze the resume and suggest improvements, then manually rewrote each section.
Lesson: This was the ONLY hustle that made money in week 1. Resume writing has immediate demand. People need jobs now, not in 3 months.
3. Creating Digital Products
What I did: Made a 50-prompt pack for Instagram content creators on Gumroad, price $9. I used ChatGPT to generate the prompts, then curated the best 50 and designed a simple PDF.
Lesson: You need an audience first. Digital products don't sell themselves. Without traffic from social media or an email list, your product is invisible.
4. AI Automation for Local Business
What I did: Pitched a simple AI chatbot to 5 local shops via WhatsApp. The pitch: "I can build a bot that answers your common customer questions automatically."
Lesson: Local businesses in Morocco are not ready for AI chatbots yet. The trust barrier is high. This might work better with a portfolio of examples.
5. Faceless YouTube with AI
What I did: Made 1 video using Pictory (AI video generator). Script by ChatGPT, voice by ElevenLabs free tier, visuals by Pictory. Topic: "3 AI Tools That Save Me 10 Hours Per Week."
Lesson: One video is nothing. YouTube requires consistency — at least 10-20 videos before the algorithm starts recommending you.
π My Total After 7 Days
| Hustle | Time Spent | Result | Earned |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. AI Content Writing | 3 hours | 2 messages, 0 orders | $0 |
| 2. Fiverr Resume Rewrite | 2 hours | 1 order from Canada | $20 |
| 3. Digital Products | 4 hours | 14 views, 0 sales | $0 |
| 4. Local Business Chatbot | 1 hour | 1 "maybe later" | $0 |
| 5. Faceless YouTube | 4 hours | 23 views | $0 |
| TOTAL | 14 hours | — | $20 |
❌ 3 Mistakes I Made
- Tried 5 things at once. I should have picked ONE hustle and focused all 7 days on it. Spreading myself thin meant no hustle got enough attention.
- Didn't have portfolio samples. Clients want proof before they pay. I had nothing to show.
- Published raw AI text first. My first Fiverr gig description was clearly AI-written. I rewrote it in my own voice and got more views.
✅ What I Would Do Differently
- Week 1: Build portfolio only. Don't try to sell. Create 3 free samples for imaginary clients.
- Week 2: Focus on ONE platform (Fiverr). Optimize one gig until it ranks.
- Week 3: Start pitching. Send 5 messages per day to potential clients.
